A loose fitting plunger is pushed into the open limb of the ?J? tube by displacement; the height of the mercury can be adjusted from about -50mm to +450mm relative to the closed end.

CORIOLLIS COMPONENT OF ACCELERATION

DESCRIPTION :-

It is designed to study Coriollis Component of Acceleration of a slider crank mechanism. Here the mechanical slider system is replaced by a continuous stream of water flowing through a steadily rotating pair of tubes. These tubes can be rotated at various speeds by using a swinging field motor which also acts as dynamometer. A Perspex window on top of the tank gives clear view of the process and prevents splashing of the water over the side of the tank. The dynamometer continuously measures torque applied to the rotating tubes.
The Equipment is self contained, water recirculating, provided with its own speed control unit and separate water circulation pump.

DESCRIPTION :

The total set up comprises of Centrifugal fan which blows air through a square duct which consists of several sections as following.
(A) INITIAL CONDITIONING SECTION
This section comprises of a cooling coil circuit, heater section and steam humidification system. This section enables simulation of normal year round weather conditions to some extent in the confined space of the duct.
B) FIRST OBSERVATION SECTION
This section consists of flow stabilization zone and temperature measurement section. Here condition of simulated air coming out of the first conditioning section is observed and recorded.
C) SECOND CONDITIONING SECTION
This section incorporates cooling coil, heaters and humidifier tubes as in first conditioning section. The equipment incorporated in this section can be operated suitably to bring final air condition somewhere near comfort conditioning zone.
D) SECOND OBSERVATION SECTION
This section incorporates flow stabilization zone and measurement section where final condition of air is observed and recorded after conditioning the same in second conditioning section.

The silvered scales, graduated in inches & mm are read by vernier moving by Rack & pinion to 1/200 in & 1/10mm & are enclosed in glass cylinder. A glass cylinder at the lower end of the barometer is provided with an ivory point to which the level of the mercury in the cistern is adjusted before readings are taken. A ring support & three locking screws at base of instrument provide a means of securing the barometer in a vertical positions. Fitted with thermometer with centigrade & Fahrenheit scale. Supplied without mercury but with instruction for filling the barometer.

A functional glass model of the earliest form of steam turbine. Comprising a borosilicate glass bulb 70mm dia. approx., with side arms bent at right angles and formed into jets at their tips. The bulb is carried upon a metal stand, which leaves it free to rotate about its horizontal axis. If about 25 to 30ml of water are introduced into the bulb and boiled the issuing steam causes rapid rotation. Supplied without burner.

Consists of a metal tank 150x90x100mm has five apertures on one side through which 100x3mm metal rods of copper, brass, aluminium, iron & glass pass. The outer end of each rod has a cavity. When the low melting point paraffin wax is placed in the cavity, the different metals melt the paraffin at different rates.
