This is a well-designed PSSC-type timer, easy to use and remarkably accurate. It plugs directly into any grounded 110 volt outlet with no need for a cumbersome transformer. The timer places a carbon dot on a special sheet of moving paper (included) exactly every 1/60 of a second, functioning in the same manner and with the precision of an electric clock. You can demonstrate the concepts of velocity, acceleration and friction when the spacing between the dots is measured and compared. The hardwood body is heavy enough to work without table clamps, although holes for attaching to standard support rods are included. We offer shielded electric conncections, adjustable tuning nut and permanently mounted brackets for the snug insertion of paper tape. |
Includes: solid wood timer (4 x 5 x 18 cm); 100-ft roll of ticker tape paper, 24 carbon circles, 1 m cord with on/off switch, instructions. Wt: 45 g. |
This device shows how the rate of acceleration of an object depends upon the angle of incline. It features an aluminum frame (“trolley”) with two low-friction pulleys. There are 3 holes in the bottom of the frame for easy attachment of weights, protected by brackets which let you place trolley at any point along the wire. |
How to Use: Screw two hooks into your classroomn wall and stretch the included cable between them. Use tape to mark a midpoint on the wall. Raise the trolley and time its as it passes the marker. Move the marker to the position where the trolley passes in a known time and determine a, acceleration. |
Includes: Trolley with 2” diameter (50 mm) pulley; 30 feet of 1.5 mm wire cable; attachment kit with hardware; instructions with installatin tips and calculations |
Teach both rolling and sliding friction! |
What are the effects of acceleration and gravity on a moving body? Find out with our easy, low-cost lab which has a brand-new experiment! Determine acceleration, speed and distances attained when applying a variable force. Propel a steel ball or two down an aluminum track with a spring-activated plunger so that you hit one or more balls positioned further down the track. Observe how far and how many balls move. Vary the force applied by using any of the four trigger positions. |
Includes: 43" long one-piece track, injection molded plastic supports, trigger mechanism with 4 settings, 5 steel balls (3/4" dia), irregular shaped wood block and instructions with two experiments. |
Need a good, reliable source for inelastic and elastic collision balls? These intriguing balls, popularly called "happy and sad*", are always in stock. No minimums or import charges! *Our sad ball is so remarkably sad that it's known by some as "dead." Kit includes: one "happy" neoprene ball (elastic); one "sad" polynorbornene (inelastic); our usual detailed instructions with several experiments. With many uses at both the middle and high school levels, these balls enjoy repeat sales. |
Make the center of gravity the center of attention with this complete and intriguing class kit! |
Spend a little, investigate a lot...master the concepts of acceleration, density and weight in one simple kit! |
Falling objects, floating objects and the different ways different materials behave have fascinated people for thousands of years. But understanding both "how" and "why" can be challenging for students of all ages. This is where a comprehensive kit that lays out the entire learning process has true value. Background, procedures, lab activities and questions follow each other logically as the scientific principles they illuminate. |
Here's the first in a new series of science kits we're calling Accent Science (TM). In addition to all materials needed for experimentation, each kit includes complete instructions. By referring to our teacher pages, journal pages and a comprehensive range of questions and problems, even the busiest teacher can introduce "weighty" concepts and "accelerate" enlightenment. |
Kit contents: Acceleration due to gravity materials: Hanging rod (6), bob (6) and string Exploring density materials: Graduated cylinder (6); 6 each of aluminum, copper, brass, steel, PVC and carbon specimens Exploring weight materials: Foam peanut (6), spring scale (6), copper cylinder with hook and string Instructions with teacher pages, journal pages and challenge questions |
Go with the flow! Visualize horizontal acceleration - at a special low price. |
What happens to the oceans under the full moon? What flings you outward when your car cuts a corner too sharply? |
It's easy to visualize the effects of inertial movement with this low cost device. Horizontal acceleration creates characteristic wave patterns to demonstrate inertial movement. Now, because liquid moves in the direction opposite to acceleration, you can actually see these waves by watching the pattern created by the colored liquid. You can even measure the patterns with the imprinted horizontal and vertical grid. |
•Demonstrate gravitational and uniform acceleration •Illustrate acceleration down an inclined plane •Use with Dynamics Cars, Rotating Platform, turntable, or amusement park physics |
Liquid accelerometer includes: |
•Hook and loop connector to attach to a dynamics car or rotating platform |
•Grid lines to quantify both vertical and horizontal movement |
•You provide water and food coloring |
NOTE: Inclined Plane (model 40-250) sold separately) |
This handy launcher clamps to any tabletop. Shoot the ball at any angle from -15° to 90° straight up. Solidly built to withstand the rigors of a hands-on lab, yet precision machined so you get the same result, time after time. Compatible with 25-180. Includes: spring-loaded gun; 2 25mm balls; instructions with experiments; protractor (not shown); plumb bob (not shown) |
Projectile Launcher Features: Range: Up to 3 m. Infinitely adjustable by turning and locking latch to desired position Angle: Any angle up to 90°. Adjusts with launcher mount, then locks into place with auxiliary brace. Combination of launcher mount and brace means maximum flexibility plus great rigidity. Measure your angle within 1/2 ° accuracy with plumb bob. |
