Our Buchner funnel filtering kit is hand pumped and can be used in the field or the laboratory. This kit includes: 500ml filtering flask with sidearm, 90mm porcelain Buchner funnel, large bore rubber stopper to accept Buchner funnel, vacuum pump, 90mm filter paper (pack of 100). Includes instructions.

This basic orienteering kit is perfect for an introduction to compasses and directions. The kit allows a teacher to demonstrate using an oversize display compass, while the students have accurate liquid filled compasses.. The detailed teacher instructions include many activities including: learning the parts of a compass, learning directions, finding your way, string course, finding a landmark, using maps, and hidden treasure games.

Equipment is provided for 12 students (or 24 student pairs).

It is clear so it can be used on an overhead projector. The Student Compasses are for use in the Northern Hemisphere. They come with a lanyard and are graduated 0 to 360 degrees in 2 degree intervals. Each has a liquid-filled capsule, declination correction scale, luminous points, and an acrylic base. The base has a 4x magnifier. Additional compasses may be ordered.

Easily calculate the height of any tall object using our great new clinometer. Simply aim, squeeze trigger, and view angle of inclination. Use some simple math and you have the height. This is an idea that stems from the Greeks since it?s all about right triangles. This simple measuring tool can be used to determine the angles of slope and height of an object with respect to gravity. It is widely used in surveying, forestry, civil engineering, and even by ski enthusiasts.

Estimate vegetation and light levels.
This device estimates the forest overstory. It includes a concave or convex mirror with 37 grid intersections forming 24 squares. Housed in a 3 x 3 x 1" walnut case with instructions on the lid. Includes a leveling bubble for accurate readings. Readings from convex type require a larger sample size.

Measure great distances with our top quality trundle wheel. This distance counter features a 30cm rubberized wheel. The unit will fold down to be carried in its included soft bag. The five digit counter will light up with a flip of a switch on the handle to illuminate the numbers in low lighting.

This is a complete and economical kit for obtaining samples of phyto and zooplankton from lakes and ponds for later study in the lab. The apparatus we provide is durable and reusable. Our basic water bottle needs no messenger. It is constructed of PVC with soft rubber seals and 20 m of line on a styrofoam float that will bob to the surface if dropped. We provide twelve (12) 250 mL sample bottles for transporting samples back to the lab. Our plankton net is the real thing: constructed of genuine Nitex® 80 micron mesh, it has a stainless steel ring and bridle for attaching line. Included are twelve (12) small sample bottles, 125 mL in size, that fit onto the plankton net with the included adaptor. Each group of two students will take a sample, remove their bottle for transporting samples back to the lab, and pass the net to another group of two students. The secchi disk determines turbidity in shallow waters, meets industry standards, and comes with attached line on a winding float. A 5-3/4" long thermometer for taking the temperature of air and water is also included.

The D-frame net is lightweight and practical, with a 30-inch handle for easy handling by students. Six (6) are provided, so several groups of students can obtain samples at once. The wide-mouthed sample jars (12) are a generous 500 mL in size for holding your sample till you get back to the lab. Constructed of durable polypropylene, they are square in shape so they won't tip or spill. Did you know? You can use our measuring reel, a stop watch and an old tennis ball to determine stream velocity. Drop the ball into the stream and time how long it takes to travel a specified length of tape.
