What is Density, anyway? With this colorful kit, you can easily help your students grasp this concept in a non-mathematical way. By constructing cubes made from magic dough, toothpicks and blue foam floats, you can show how changing the "compactness" of the design influences the cubes' "floatability" when placed in a tray full of water. Kit includes: (12) cans of magic dough, (1) box of toothpicks, (300) blue foam squares, (12) clear plastic containers, (1) Density Identification Kit, and instructions |
These 15 cm (6") long rulers are inexpensive and ideal for students in the laboratory. Because they are clear, they can be held over an organism for easy measuring. Packs of 12. |
• Flat-bottomed white plastic pans for “easy pickin’s” Many have asked us for flat-bottomed white pans that won’t twist or spill. Well, here they are - the best way we’ve found for hand-picking macroinverte- brates in the lab or field. Lightweight yet sturdy, in 2 sizes. First rinse your sample through a sieve (usually 500 m - see page x), then spread it in the pan. When the sample settles, the picking starts. Macroinvertebrates are usually sorted into vials and preserved in alcohol. Sometimes glycerine is added for storage. |
